relationship with our Consultants
Consultants are critical to Mulberry Private Healthcare (MPH). However North West Anglia Hospitals Foundation Trust (NWAFT) does not employ these consultants to undertake private healthcare, although they might be employed by NWAFT to undertake work with NHS patients. Instead, consultants working in MPH are essentially self-employed practitioners who see and treat patients in our hospital under the terms of our ‘practising privileges’ policy.
It is important that we are transparent about our relationship with our consultants who work in MPH and therefore we have set our below some of the ways in which we work together.
Higher Value Services
Consulting rooms are provided to clinicians who hold practicing privileges at MPH at a rate of £20.00 per hour. This is reflective of consultant room accommodation at fair market rates.
Medical secretarial services are provided to MPH consultants at a rate of £16.00 per hour. This is reflective of the market rate for delivering this type of service.
Lower Value Services
Lower value services provided to our consultants who hold practicing privileges at MPH include:
- General hospital marketing activity
- General services provided to ensure clinical safety
- Operational services such as patient bookings and admission, administrative services and billing
- Patient notes archiving
- Some stationery and printing
